Lovey: Date of Birth: November 6 2016: Lovey’s the second child in the family of a struggling single mother living in Mukuru slum. Although the mother was given many opportunities to change her life she reverted back to a life of alcohol and men. Lovey knew the life the children at the Cana Rescue Centre lived, one of consistent food, schooling, and a warm place to live. The day arrived when Lovey (then 9) took herself to the office of Reverend Mary Mambo and asked if she could life at the Rescue Centre. She was tired of the hunger and need. Compassion for Africa found a willing couple to sponsor her with provision of foods, clothes, warm safe bed, and an education. Lovey attends Kings Cana Academy school and is in the grade 4 and catching up well.
I met Lovey in November 2025 and discovered a bright, willing, hardworking, beautiful child. She is so grateful to Cana and Compassion for Africa, she still wakes up surprised at the blessed life she now lives. Lovey dances before the lord with her entire being, her whole body feels the music and praises God with the fullest expression.
